Sustainable and Organic Farm Training

Make a difference this Earth Day! get your hands dirty and create new planting plots on campus with SOFT!

Aloha Everyone,

This week, we will installing two new plots right in the middle of campus during the Earth Day festival. Please join us on Wednesday from 10-5 and on Thursday from 10-5 to help install our new plots and check out what we’re up to. We will be having our produce sale at the Thursday festival instead of our normal Monday produce sale.
Even though we have been experiencing a long and continuing string of banana theft, we’ve been granted a miracle and were somehow able to harvest FIVE DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF BANANA just in time for the Earth Day festival!! Hooray!
And if you thought that was neat, we will also be offering for the first time ever, KAVA! We dug it up, cleaned and packed it all just for you and have both dry powder and fresh-frozen available.
And since we are going to be working so hard this week, and we have Friday off, we’re going to mix it up a little and have the normal Magoon workday on Sunday from 9-5, NOT Saturday as per usual.
Details:
Wednesday: Earth Day fest plot installation day one. 10AM-5PM, Sustainability Courtyard.
Thursday: Earth Day fest plot installation day two. 10AM-5PM, Sustainability Courtyard.
Thursday: Produce sale @ Earth Day fest, Sustainability Courtyard, 10AM until sold out, come early!!!
Anticipated Produce: bananas, sweet potatoes, kava (dry and fresh frozen), taro, soursop, carrots, winged beans, lemongrass, basil, eggplant, malabar spinach, mizuna, kai choy, sweet potato greens.
Sunday: Workday at Magoon, 9AM to 5PM.

Cheers,
SOFT

SOFT is a student managed farm funded by the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR). SOFT was started in 2007. Our members include undergraduate and graduate students, UH Faculty, and community members eager to learn about sustainable and organic farming practices.
